What is Illustrator?
Adobe Illustrator is a program used by both artists and graphic designers to create vector images. These images will then be used for company logos, promotional uses or even personal work, both in print and digital form. It allows the creator to keep images proportional when making images larger or smaller.
Laser Cutter
Step One: Open Adobe Illustrator
Step Two: Click on File New
Step Three: Click on the Art & Illustration Tab
Step Four: Change Settings to the Following Picture
Step Five: Right Click on Rectangle Tool and Then Click on Rounded Rectangle Tool
Step Six: Draw the Rounded Rectangle to Fit the Page
Step Seven: Scale it down the the following image
Step Eight: Change the color of the line ton following picture
Step Nine: Change the size of the line to 0.0001 thickness
Step Ten: Right click on rectangle tool and select eclipse tool
Step Eleven: Draw eclipse in upper left hand corner
Step Twelve: Dimension it to the following picture
Step Thirteen: Click on text box and add it to artboard
Step Fourteen: Google a large/black&white/clip art picture
Step Fifteen: Add image to art board
Step Sixteen: Click on Embed tool
Step Seventeen: Click on Image trace
Step Eighteen: Click on expand tool
Cutting
Step One: Click on File Print and Select following Printer
Step Two: Select Setup and then preferences
Step Three: Click on Extruded Acrylic and material thickness on .200
Step Four: Click Ok
Step Five: Open UCP
Step Six: Insert Image
Step Seven: Use tools to position image on the laser cutter.
Step Eight: Cut out keychain
Vinyl Cutting
Step One: Remove vinyl around letters
Step Two: Place clear sticking tape on top of letters
Step Three: Squeegee air out of tape
Step Four: Peel tape with letters on it off of backing
Step Five: Place tape and letters on mat board
Step Six: Squeegee air out of tape and peel it off
What I Learned
Through using inventor I have learned many things. I learned that a vector image is an image with no pixels. I also learned the basic tools of Adobe Illustrator. Another thing I learned was how to set up an image to cut out on laser cutter and vinyl cutter.
